Arusha Coffee Lodge

Arusha Coffee Lodge offers lodgings set in beautiful surroundings on a coffee estate just north of the city and close to Arusha domestic Airport, which may disturb light sleepers. The friendly atmosphere is let down by occasional lapses in the level of service, but this secluded resort has good food and accommodation, and is convenient for early flights.

Rooms  at Arusha Coffee Lodge

The rooms are spacious and modern, with a traditional plantation feel, comfortable beds and mosquito nets and each is in its own building with a porch. Rooms at the back of the estate are quietest, but the gravel paths can be a bit of a walk to the main lodge, and there is no wheelchair access.  There are no telephones to call for room service. The bathroom is large with a double vanity, bathtub, and shower, but some may be awaiting renovation. The ‘special coffee’ soaps are handmade, and can crumble quickly.

Arusha Coffee Lodge’s Restaurant

The chef uses fresh ingredients from the lodge’s own organic vegetable farm, and so service times are longer.  The choice of African dishes on the menu is limited, and the five course meals with specialist coffees can be a little bit pricey.  Drinks may need to be paid for separately, and cash is probably the best option for this.  Eating lunch in the garden is particularly pleasant.  The filling buffet breakfast is ideal for safari-goers and climbers.

Facilities at Arusha Coffee Lodge

The Wi-Fi is only available in the central lodge, not in the room. The lounge area with open fire is a good place to relax in the evening.
